The first Sonos Sound Suite event in Mumbai was an unforgettable evening of musical fusion. Held at Soho House, the event featured a captivating jugalbandi between sitar maestro Purbayan Chatterjee and jazz pianist-composer Merlyn D’Souza. Their performance was a beautiful dialogue between classical Indian ragas and bluesy jazz, leaving the audience spellbound. Bollywood Actor/Singer Sarah Jane Dias hosted the evening and surprised guests with a performance of Ray Charles’ I Got a Woman.

"Indian classical music is steeped in emotion, texture, and nuance," Chatterjee said. "When mixed with the blues, the resulting sound is soulful and captivating. The Sonos Sound Suites' performance is our tribute to the transcendental qualities of music."

This collaboration set the tone for Sonos Sound Suites: not just performances, but cultural statements - where Sonos creates a stage for India’s evolving sound.

This is reflected in the numbers: Indian classical music streams on Spotify saw a remarkable 500% rise in 2023. A highlight of the event was an immersive listening session led by Sonos Sound Experience Engineer Harry Jones. Using the Sonos Era 300, Jones demonstrated how Sonos speakers are engineered to honor the artist’s intent, reproducing every detail with breathtaking clarity.
